According to Newsis,

[Daejeon] Daejeon’s "D-Unicorn" companies have established a strong foothold for global expansion by securing significant export and investment cooperation through direct business matching with global buyers and investors at CES 2026.

On January 20th, the Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Daejeon Technopark (DJTP) announced meaningful results from their global investor and buyer matching program, conducted in partnership with North American professional agencies during the CES 2026 period.

The program facilitated 28 high-level business consultations, including one-on-one strategic meetings with global giants such as HP Inc. and Baidu Apollo. Discussions focused on technical cooperation, joint business ventures, and potential investment opportunities.

A key highlight was the USD 50 million worth of export consultations conducted with local North American accelerators, leading to concrete discussions for future strategic partnerships.

In addition to the matchmakings, on-site consulting sessions provided D-Unicorn companies with strategies for entering the North American market, identifying potential local customers, and optimizing product positioning. These sessions significantly enhanced the companies’ readiness for the global stage.

Individual booths operated by the D-Unicorn firms also saw high activity, recording 246 on-site consultations totaling USD 5.47 million and identifying 115 new potential buyers.

As a result of these interactions, 25 follow-up negotiations are currently underway with prominent entities, including Microsoft, Meta, and naval agencies from the U.S. and Canada. These discussions are expected to lead to tangible outcomes such as sample testing, technical verification (PoC), and joint project development.

"Daejeon Technopark has focused on generating actual exports, investments, and global cooperation beyond mere exhibition participation," said Kim Woo-yeon, President of DJTP. "We will continue to support the global growth of regional companies through international business matching, investment linkages, and subsequent commercialization support."
