(Daejeon = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Ju-young – Daejeon Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that it signed a voluntary reduction agreement to mitigate fine dust emissions with the Geumgang River Basin Environmental Office and 14 air pollutant-emitting business enterprises at the City Hall’s medium conference room.

The participating corporations include Daejeon Combined Heat and Power Plant, Daejeon Eco Energy Total Town, Jeil Feed Daejeon Plant, KT&G Daejeon Plant, Hankook Tire & Technology Daejeon Plant, Sewon Chemical, P&C Tech, Hankook & Company Daejeon Plant, Amorepacific, Yuhan-Kimberly Daejeon Plant, Hanbat Chemical, CNCITY Energy, Jinhap, and Hanon Systems.

These enterprises plan to invest KRW 18.8 billion in eco-friendly facility upgrades to reduce air pollutants generated at their workplaces by more than 34 tons (17 percent) against baseline emissions through measures such as replacing prevention facilities and optimizing manufacturing processes by 2029.

Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Geumgang River Basin Environmental Office will provide administrative and institutional support to ensure the smooth implementation of the agreement by participating enterprises, while offering various incentives, such as commendations and plaque presentations, to corporations demonstrating outstanding fulfillment records.
