(Daejeon = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Ju-young – Daejeon Metropolitan City announced on the 11th that it will co-host the '2026 International Space Conference' (ISS 2026) with Contec Space Group, a space startup, at the Daejeon Convention Center from the 16th to the 18th.

Marking its 4th anniversary this year, the event is held under the theme of 'Connecting the World and Opening a New Space Frontier,' with around 4,000 space industry officials and 550 institutions and enterprises from 50 countries participating.

During the event period, programs including a space industry development forum, technology exchange sessions, startup pitching, business-to-business (B2B) meetings, and an enterprise exhibition will be conducted.

In particular, 13 specialized sessions are arranged across fields such as space exploration, satellite communications, Earth observation, space development infrastructure, satellite utilization services, space policy & legislation, and space environmental safety. Approximately 60 domestic and overseas experts and industry officials will deliver lectures on technological development directions and industrial outlooks.

At the enterprise exhibition, global corporations including ICEYE, a Finnish satellite enterprise; Safran, a French aerospace and defense corporation; and Viasat, an American satellite communications firm, will participate to showcase their latest technologies and business models.

During the event, the city will operate a Daejeon Pavilion featuring Perigee Aerospace, a private launch vehicle enterprise, alongside consortium enterprises—such as StepLab, MID, and EPSTek—participating in the 'Daejeon SAT Project,' a region-led ultra-small satellite development initiative. A Kumssi Family pop-up store will also be opened.
