According to Yonhap News,

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) The number of Chinese tourists to Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province is projected to increase threefold, compared with a year earlier.

Daegu Metropolitan City announced that this year's accumulated number of visitors from China was 69,783 as of the end of May, up 24.8 percent from 55,940 of last year.

Additional 213 thousand are expected to come during the holiday season in the second half of this year, driving up total number of visitors to around 280 thousand.

This number translates to 767 visitors a day and 23 thousand visitors a month, which is nearly a two-fold increase compared to last year's 105 thousand.

Tourism income is also projected to surge from last year's KRW 21 billion to KRW 56 billion this year.

'2016 Visit Daegu - North Gyeongsang Year' greatly helped boost the number visitors, according to the city.
