Korea's First Medical Tourism Start-up Support Center Set up in Daegu

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu City opened the nation's first center to support business startup in the medical tourism sector on December 22.

The center will be a place to foster entrepreneurs in the field of medical tourism, including foreign patients attraction, ICT convergence medical services, healthcare contents production, and healthcare services.

Eight medical tourism companies and ten one-person startups will move into the center, which is expected to lead vitalization of medical tourism.

The center, located in Jung District, will open training courses for medicine, tourism and business startup to help new entrepreneurs.

In addition, the city will run the Medi-City Daegu Global Healthcare Education Center, which provides medical tourism business incubation, and medical industry and medical tourism-related education.

Tenant companies will be provided with one-on-one customized consulting service from the initial stage. For companies newly starting businesses, a series of support including development of sales channels and the establishment of partnership and networks will be offered.
