Daegu, KAIST to Build Industry 4.0 Platform for Textiles, Fashion

(DAEGU=Newsis News) The city of Daegu and the Korea Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (KAIST) are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 27 at the Daegu CIty Hall to build a industry 4.0 platform for SMEs in the textile and fashion industries.

According to the city on July 26, the agreement aims to transform the textile and fashion industry into a new growth engine by helping local SMEs adapt to the changing environment during the fourth industrial revolution.

Based on the MoU, the two parties will work with each other to find out how best they could supply advanced Industry 4.0 technologies so that it creates a virtuous circle that revitalizes the the region's core industries, and leads to greater income, consumption, investment and employment.

But before they start building te platform, Daegu City and KAIST plan to carry out preliminary studies on what technologies SMEs actually need, and start working on developing training programs.

Later, KAIST will select SMEs that are suitable for applying Industry 4.0 technology to their companies, develop Smart technology models for each SME, and work with them to cultivate experts in related fields.
