(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu Metropolitan City announced December 15 that it will push forward with promotional marketing events to make inroads into the Chinese medial tourism market by actively using the Korea-China summit, the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olyimpics and the Korea Grand Sale event.

A delegation of eight leading medical centers and three beauty companies based in Daegu will visit the Chinese cities of Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Shenyang from December 17 to 21.

On December 20, Liaoning Nuxin Group, a private medical center in Shenyang, signed a memoraundum of understanding (MoU) with Daegu City, and strengthened ties between the metdical tourism industries of both cities, including through the opening of medical tourism promotion centers.

Taking notice of the characteristics of the three Chinese cities and the Chinese government's recent policies to nurture local senior care industry, Daegu is planning to target the Chinese market with its strengths in plastic surgery, medical examinations, and dentistry.

Daegu formed the delegation in expectation of exchange between the two countries to quickly get back on track following the summit China, a city source commented.
