Daegu to Target Russian Far East for Medical Tourism

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu will promote medical tourism by organizing exhibition and opening a PR Center in Russian Far East.

Daegu City said on October 11 that it will host "Hello in Daegu" in Lotte Hotel Vladivostok in Primorsky, Russia from October 13 to 14.

The event will be hosted by Medi-city Daegu Association Medical Tourism Industry Committee, and will be attended by 8 medical institutions in Daegu, three organizations related medical industry and 150 officials from Vladivostok medical tourism industry.

Celebrating the first direct flight between Daegu and Vladivostok last April, it will prepare promotion seminar by institution and clinic day in which the local hospitals and Daegu medical team will give treatment to the patients.

Daegu will open Medi-city Daegu Medical Tourism PR Center in Irkutsk in cooperation with Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center and Dongsan Life Center on October 16.

It will be the third Center for Daegu to open in Russia, and will serve as a base for medical tourism.

"We will make efforts to promote Daegu's medical tourism industry by hosting global Medi-city Daegu events and operating PR Center," said an official from Daegu.

Many Russian patients suffer from liver diseases and cardiovascular diseases and they are the fourth largest medical tourist group to Korea.
