(DAEGU=Yonhap News) The Fourth Global Innovator Festa with many young innovators participating will be held from November 9 to 10 at Daegu EXCO.
Daegu said on November 1 that about 3,218 domestic and overseas innovators will attend to participate in the startup pitching and share ICT ideas.
The events will include Make-A-Thon where innovative devices and software are developed, Idea-Thon where participants present ideas and solutions by theme, Startup-Audition where they promote ideas connecting business and investment and Rooki Camp for student ICT innovators. Innovators from Korea, China, India and Kazakhstan will participate in these events.
Marking its fourth year, GIF is held under the theme of "Startup Rise", co-hosted by Daegu and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) and organized by Daegu Digital Industry Promotion Agency to discover and foster global creative talents and startups.
The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Ministry of the Interior and Safety will award Minister prize with KRW 100 million and support startups and commercialization.
As side events, "Startup Fair" is prepared which includes demo stage, global pitch session and global startup mentoring program.
All participants and visitors can enjoy VR experience and robots in the maker experience zone.
At the opening ceremony, Ian Khan, global expert on technological innovation will deliver keynote speech with a theme of "Success strategies for startups in the era of the fourth industrial revolution."
"GIF is a platform where ICT experts, startups and investors gather to share business culture and connect ideas to starting a business and growth," said an official from Daegu. "We will support challenges and passion of young people creating new ideas and developing business plans."
