DCCI to run employment programs to help seniors and young residents

Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) announced on Mar. 23 that the local authorities will hire 263 residents, who will join local job creation projects – “Youth Employment Program” and “Senior Employment Program”. DCCI provides cash grants valued at KRW 1.5 million, adding to national allocations in the form of subsidies, for 220 local businesses that employ young residents aged 15-34 over three months. For the Senior Employment Program, DCCI selects 43 candidates aged 40-64 to receive KRW 5.4 million if they’re rehired and working for local SMEs. To become the potential nominees, all the employers applying for the service must meet the national minimum wage requirements (as of 2020, KRW 1.79 per month).
