Daegu city slashed 86,000 tons of GHG, valued at KRW 3.5 bln

The city of Daegu announce on May 6 that the local authorities’ campaign to reduce carbon footprint has successfully slashed the emissions by a record 85,900 tons over the past five years, goring through three different stages during the timeframe.
When calculated under the emission trading system (current prices per metric tons of CO2), the amount is valued at KRW 3.5 billion. GHG allocated to the city since the launch of the cap and trade system totaled 3.63 million tons during the period from 2015 through 2019. The authorities have been running 26 city-wide emission controlling facilities such as a filtration plant, landfill and incineration plant to join commitment to fight against global warming.
The city unveiled a carbon trading plan, selling a KRW 3.5 billion worth of the equivalent amount of CO2 at CTX in the first half of this year.
