According to Newsis,

The city of Daegu hosted an annual event, “World Water City Forum”, on Sep 22-23 in EXCO. The water forum has launched since the year 2015, under the shared goals to build up global inter-city partnership, through which member countries explore business opportunities for joint development, and help water industry form global sales channels.

The city said on Sep 20 that the city-led main event, the World Water Forum 2020, was separately held online, apart from this year’s “Korea International Water Week”, canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show aired live.

To convene the sixth round of the WWCF 2020, city representatives in eight countries and two international institutions including UNESCO presented at the virtual conference. Starting with the key note speech given by Shahbaz Khan, UNESCO Director of Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, who underscored inter-city partnership to tackle the current water issues across the world, the kick off event became the venue where all the member countries put their heads together to find solutions of urban water issues that arise in the city of Yixing, China and Bangkok in Thailand.

The outcome of the discussions are set to be shared onto the official website of World Water City Forum, serving as a platform to explore possible measures to work together for world water solutions.

For the sub-session of the main event, the city also hosted a “Youth Water Talk Concert” on Sep 23 online to let young citizens learn more on water problems and the city-led initiatives to make better use of water resources, along with the sixth round of International Water Industry Business Workshop on Sep 22-23 in Exco.

For all the cancelation of this year’s Korea International Water Week due to the coronavirus shock, the local authorities are planning to open an online expo, “KIWW 2020” from Sep 28 to Dec 31, running ads for the products and services of Korea’s water industry.
