According to Yonhap News,

Daegu Clinical Trials Center, the dedicated research facility, will be established within Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (DGMIF) cluster by the end of next year. Daegu city announced on Jan 31 the launch of the construction project on a 15,713㎡ site inside the cluster, injecting roughly KRW 41.68 billion until Nov 2022.

The center, a four story building with a basement, consists of examination rooms, clinical spaces available for diagnostic testing and research work, administrative workspaces, and R&D centers etc. Under the managerial sponsorship of Kyungpook National University Hospital (KNUH), the center will take the role of inspector, testing safety and efficacy of novel drug candidates and new pharmaceutical products.

With its preferential priority under the enforced legislation stipulated by the ‘Special Act on the Designation and Support of High-tech Medical Complexes’, the center is highly anticipated to create cost-saving, synergetic effects for both businesses and research institutes engaged. Alongside support centers dedicated to the development of medical devices, new drugs, veterinary tests, pharmaceuticals manufacturing and Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI), the facility is projected to effectively function as a supportive body that engages each business lifecycle ranging from research and development, (pre) clinical trials, approval, marketing to sales.
