According to Newsis,

Daegu-si said on January 12 that it planned to aggressively invest KRW 294.3 billion with the goal of “creating 100,000 more and better jobs” by preemptively responding to job changes such as restructuring of regional industrial structure through mutual growth of people and businesses, and overcoming regional employment crises such as youth outflow.

The city will directly provide jobs in the private and public sectors tailored to about 60,000 citizens by generation and class, including those who are disadvantageous in finding jobs, and indirectly support by creating jobs in new ways such as business establishment and social economy, while striving to resolve job mismatch and providing vocational educations.

In particular, it plans to prepare five investment strategies in the job sector and make the most of these strategies so that it can contribute to creating jobs in the private employment market in addition to the city's goal of 100,000 jobs.

In addition to direct and indirect job creation projects, Daegu-si plans to do its best to realize the industrial structure transformation to a “5+1 future new industries” which produce high added-value, and to increase jobs at better companies through various investment attraction strategies.

Meanwhile, Daegu's employment rate in November last year recorded 59%, a level similar to the pre-COVID-19 level, recovering from 53.6% in March 2020 resulted from the shocks caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 with the number of the employed increasing by 108,000 to 1,232,000.

In particular, the youth employment rate was 44.4% in the third quarter of last year, the highest since 2010, and the youth unemployment rate was 3.9%, the lowest since the third quarter of 1999, when data from the National Statistical Office was released. The total unemployment rate also continued to decline for 11 consecutive months since January last year.
