According to Yonhap News,

The 16th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF) kicked off on June 24, will be taking place at major local performance halls including Daegu Opera House until July 11.

With the phased return to pre-COVID-19 normalcy, foreign musicals came back in three years. There will be also outdoor musical concerts and opening events.

The festival features 22 musicals including official invitational (5), creative support (5), university students (8), special (3), and online (1).

The Slovakian version of “Turandot” was chosen as the opening performance. The musical version Turandot is the original musical first produced in Daegu, and its license version was exported overseas. This opening performance is meaningful in that Korea's big original musical first exported its license to Europe, and its license version was invited to perform here.

Concluding the festival will be “The Choir of Man,” a British jukebox musical featuring stories of nine men with familiar melody in the pub setting.

During the musical festival period, other events will be run on the sideline, including open musical lecture for citizens, original musical incubating reading performance, among others.
