The '2022 World Conference on Gerontechnology,' an academic event on the science and technology for the elderly, is to be held at the Daegu EXPO from Oct. 22 to Oct. 26.

The term, gerontechnology is the combination of gereology and technology and refers to the science and technology for the elderly.

Under the theme 'Technology and life, a centennial in AI Era' the event will be joined by 35 countries, roughly 2,000 researchers in the field of gerontechnology, government officials and entrepreneurs.

The event appears to be an opportunity to exchange information on advanced technologies that can address issues of an aging society such as Smart Healthcare and Smart Mobility.

Also, an exhibition will be set up to present the latest gerontechnology at home and abroad during the event period.

"Daegu enters the super aging society of which the population aged 65 or more exceeds 20% by 2025. As the city displays active digital transition business, it is the best fit for the 2020 World Conference," Park Yeong-Ran, the Chair of the Organizing Committee for the 2020 World Conference on Gerontechnology said.
