According to Yonhap News,

The KITA Daegu & Gyeongbuk branch's office said on July 11 that a group of local companies backed by Daegu city and Gyeongsangbuk-do struck export deals worth USD 2 million in China when they were sent to open up new markets there.

The group that consists of 13 consumer goods companies held an in-person export negotiating talk in Chongqing and Shanghai in China for 5 days from July 3 to 7.

It has been the first occasion in 4 years since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic that an export negotiating talk is held in those two cities.

The participating companies clinched 142 export deals that amounted to USD 340,000, all told, after two rounds of talks.

Behind the achievements they made, what lies was the hard work made by the KITA Shanghai Center and the KOTRA Chongqing Office who identified Chinese buyers willing to meet Korean partners and invited business advisors versed in China.

"What's required now is various supports and measures for local SMEs in Daegu & Gyeongbuk to give an impetus to their entry into the Chinese market.", said Lee Sangheon, head of KITA Daegu & Gyeongbuk Center.
