According to Yonhap News,

The "RISE Center" opened at the Daegu Policy Institute on October 24 to pursue a Regional Innovation System & Education (RISE).

RISE is a system that delegates the administrative and financial authority needed for university support from the Ministry of Education (MOE) to local governments, allowing the linkage between regional development and raising competitiveness of universities to promote mutual growth of regions and universities.

Daegu RISE Center formed a planning team with seven members, including its own research personnel and those from related organizations, and will push for a pilot project to create an downtown campus town starting from next year. The Center will then be in charge of selecting, executing, assessing, and monitoring university support projects from 2025.

Daegu's deputy mayor said, "The role of the RISE Center is crucial in enhancing the competitiveness of local universities and nurturing universities to help regional development."
