LVIS, a Silicon Valley-based startup in the brain disease diagnosis and treatment field, will build an AI-based brain disease treatment research center in Suseong Alpha City, Daegu.

Daegu-si signed an investment agreement with LVIS at City Hall on March 19.

LVIS will build an AI-based brain disease treatment research center by the second half of next year, with investment of KRW 17.5 billion on an 870㎡ site in Suseong Alpha City.

With this facility, LVIS plans to conduct research for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and sleep diseases.

LVIS also plans to cooperate with local general hospitals in Daegu-si, including Kemyung University Dongsan Hospital, Kyungpook National University Hospital, Yeungnam University Medical Center, Daegu Catholic University Medical Center, Daegu Medical Center, and Daegu Fatima Hospital.

LVIS is known to have AI-based software technology that diagnosis various brain diseases including dementia and epilepsy and proposes the optimal treatment through brain networks analysis.

A founder of LVIS said, "we will closely cooperate with Daegu-si to contribute to the growth of local medical care and advanced industries, and hire local talent to help the local economy make a leap forward."

Daegu's mayor said, "The investment by LVIS is expected to play a great role in growing Suseong Alpha City as a new research hub of the domestic digital healthcare, such as AI-based brain disease treatment."
