According to Yonhap News,
On November 19, Daegu-si announced that it has formed a "Daegu Food (D-Food) Export Committee" involving industry-academic experts and others, with a goal of revitalizing local food exports.
The Committee, composed of 18 officials from the food industry, academia, and export support organizations, held its first meeting at Daegu-si office and discussed overall measures to foster the local food industry.
The committee will listen to the difficulties local food companies face in the export process and devise solutions.
The city plans to bolster support for local food companies to develop products that cater to tastes of overseas consumers and engage in marketing activities customized to each country.
Previously, Daegu-si and 16 local food companies affirmed their potential of exports to the US, after they achieved sales of about KRW 320 million by selling tteokbokki, rice snacks, and Korean sweets in the overseas Korean festival, held in Los Angeles (LA), USA in September this year.
