On December 8, Daegu-si announced that it was selected as the 'Global Innovation Special Zone' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS).
The Global Innovation Special Zone is a Korean-style innovation zone (cluster) where permit-first-regulate-later principle will be applied for the development of new products and services in high-tech fields and overseas expansion, and demonstration of global standard will be conducted.
With the designation, the city will integrate into two AI robot clusters including 'Advanced Manufacturing Zone" and "AI Innovation Zone" and work towards customized support for companies in cooperation with local innovation support organizations.
In order to respond to demand from overseas markets, it will support overseas demonstration customized to overseas consumers, overseas certification and international joint R&D.
It also plans to take the lead in commercialization and international standards by improving unreasonable regulations and preemptive standard preparations for new AI robot technologies.
