According to Yonhap News,
On January 17, Jung-gu, Daegu-si announced that it will invest a total of KRW 11.66 billion into 39 projects in the Dongsung-ro area, which has been designated as a tourism special zone.
In order to become a global tourism city, Jung-gu has set five key strategies: developing local tourism content, building regional tourism infrastructure, strengthening tourism cooperation systems, differentiating tourism promotion marketing, and enhancing tourism services.
Jung-gu will host the "Dongsung-ro Tourism Special Zone Festa," made of Hallyu content such as the K-POP Dance Festival. Various programs, including "Tour Routes Customized for Foreign Tourists," will also be developed.
Additionally, key sections of Dongsung-ro will be designated as "Outdoor Advertising Specific Areas" to increase its visual appeal. When designated as a specific area, regulations on the size, quantity, and placement of outdoor advertisements will be relaxed.
To continuously discover tourism content and promote projects, Jung-gu will establish the "Tourism Special Zone Administrative Consultative Body" and the "Public-Private Tourism Special Zone Council."
Moreover, Jung-gu will enhance the promotion of Dongsung-ro, including participation in the 2025 Taiwan International Tourism Expo, and will station foreign language-speaking guides at the Dongsung-ro tourist information center.
Last July, Jung-gu became the first district in Daegu to be designated as a tourism special zone, benefiting from favorable interest rate loans from the Tourism Promotion Development Fund and national funding to boost the tourism special zone.
Jung-gu District Mayor stated, "We will transform the Dongsung-ro area into an attractive global tourism city."
