According to Yonhap News,
The "Daegu Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Center," a systematic platform for training next-generation digital talent, will officially open at the end of next month.
On January 28, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it had invested KRW 4.5 billion in special government funding to establish the AI Education Center at the former Sindang Middle School in Sindang-dong, Dalseo District, which closed in March last year due to a decrease in student numbers.
The center is expected to serve as an educational space for nurturing creative talent capable of utilizing advanced technologies such as AI, big data, VR (virtual reality), and AR (augmented reality), and will offer systematic AI-based integrated education tailored to different school levels and subjects.
The Daegu AI Education Center, covering over 4,300 square meters and equipped with around 30 classrooms, will feature an AI and digital experience zone on the first floor, in collaboration with Dalseo District Office. The second floor will house an AI experience hub, offering various hands-on experiences, including AI healthcare.
Additionally, the third floor will serve as an AI convergence learning space where students can integrate AI technology with fields like science, mathematics, humanities, and art through SW-AI projects. The fourth floor will be used to run AI exploration programs, such as AI hackathons and teacher training, aimed at enhancing AI and digital competencies. Each floor will offer AI education programs tailored to specific themes.
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to officially open the Daegu AI Education Center at the end of next month and commence full operations in March.
