According to Yonhap News,

On January 30, Daegu-si announced that it will open the "Intelligent Semiconductor Development Support Center" at the 201 Building of Daegu City Hall's San-gyeok office next month.

The city was selected last May for "Intelligent Semiconductor Development and Demonstration Support Project" by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and will invest a total of KRW 18.94 billion over the next four years.

The Support Center is expected to play a key role in fostering the local fabless (specialized in semiconductor design) industry by providing office space for companies, creating design support environments, offering workforce development, and supporting prototype production.

Kyungpook National University's Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation will be responsible for overseeing the project, supporting semiconductor development, commercialization, and market entry.

The Korea Fabless Industry Association will be responsible for semiconductor prototype production, semiconductor design expert training, and technical support.

An official from Daegu-si stated, "Through collaboration between the city and academia, we will focus on fostering fabless companies that play a crucial role in the system semiconductor industry, and we will work to ensure Daegu becomes a leading region in the future semiconductor era."
