On March 9, Daegu-si announced that it will invest KRW 300 billion by 2035 to promote the 'Textile Fashion Industry Renaissance' project.
The city has outlined four main strategies for this project: fostering future new industry-linked convergence materials (KRW 100 billion), advancing production through circular economy and digital transformation (110 billion KRW), building regional brands and activating business (KRW 40 billion), and developing multidisciplinary key talent (KRW 50 billion).
A Renaissance Promotion Team, consisting of an industry-academia-government consultative body, will also be established. This will develop a roadmap for fostering new industries and identifying large-scale R&D projects.
The city has set goals to nurture 25 companies with annual revenues over KRW 50 billion, achieve a production value of KRW 10 trillion in textile fashion industry, exports of USD 3 billion, and train 1,000 professionals.
Daegu's mayor stated, "We will support the transition to high-tech industries through innovations in production infrastructure, technology development, and talent cultivation."
