DCCI selected 13 global IP star companies, providing support for 3 years
On May 15, the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Intellectual Property Center announced that it has selected the "2025 Global IP (Intellectual Property) Star Companies."
The Global IP Star Companies program aims to enhance the intellectual property capabilities, including patents, brands, and designs, of small and medium-sized export companies in the region. The City of Daegu and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) are also supporting the initiative.
In 2025, 41 companies applied through an open call process, and 13 companies were finally selected.
Including the recently selected companies, the Intellectual Property Center will support a total of 33 companies selected since 2023, with annual funding of up to KRW 70 million per company, and a total of KRW 210 million within 3 years. This funding will assist with establishing overseas patent strategies, as well as the expenses for overseas patent, trademark, and design applications.
The Center reported that the program has been producing positive results. One of the supported companies, Maru L & C Co., saw a 440% increase in revenue and a 650% rise in exports thanks to the support from the Center in establishing overseas patent strategies and filing patent applications.
The Vice Chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "We will provide multifaceted support to help local SMEs respond to the rapidly changing global market by strengthening their intellectual property capabilities."
