2027 ISSF World Shooting Championship to be held in Daegu
Daegu has been selected as the host city for the 2027 ISSF World Shooting Championship.
According to Daegu-si on July 9, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) chose Daegu as the host for the 2027 ISSF World Shooting Championship during its executive committee meeting held in Ronato, Italy.
Daegu-si successfully attracted the event, defeating competing cities such as New Delhi, India, Baku, Azerbaijan, and Osijek, Croatia.
As a result, the city plans to invest KRW 19 billion to upgrade the Daegu International Shooting Range to meet ISSF standards, preparing the success of the event.
Earlier, in January, the Korea Shooting Federation selected Daegu as the host city. Based on consultations with the ISSF executives and the Korea Shooting Federation, Daegu prepared materials highlighting its convenient transportation network, ample accommodation infrastructure, and experience in hosting international events.
Based on these materials, the city expressed its intention to host the event during a meeting with ISSF President Luciano Rossi at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany last month, and continued to actively promote Daegu by sending a delegation to Ronato, Italy, for final promotional efforts.
The World Shooting Championships, organized by the ISSF, is one of the three most prestigious shooting competitions in the world, alongside the Olympics and the World Cup.
The Daegu event, scheduled for October to November 2027, will feature approximately 2,000 athletes and officials from 90 countries, competing in 26 disciplines.
