Daegu-si has begun in earnest to attract the National Institute of Dental Science.

According to the city on August 24th, the city recently held a working-level task force meeting for the National Institute of Dental Science attraction project and is focusing on developing specific strategies.

The city plans to focus on developing a strong rationale for the necessity of the institute’s attraction, alongside promoting the project and preparing for the site selection competition.

Additionally, the city plans to hold a general meeting of the attraction task force in September and a seminar inviting dental experts in October.

Since establishing the task force for the National Institute of Dental Science attraction in August 2023, the city has been working in collaboration with the Daegu Dental Association on promotional activities, conducting feasibility studies, hosting expert forums, and lobbying central government agencies and politicians.

Daegu-si also announced that it ranks first among non-capital areas in terms of the number of dental businesses (42), employees (1,602), production value, and added value (KRW 433.8 billion).

A city official said, "Daegu has the best infrastructure for the dental industry in the country and optimal conditions to link research, clinical practice, and industry."
