According to Yonhap News,

On September 25, Daegu-si announced that it has signed an investment agreement with Coupang Logistics Service, the leading company in Korea’s parcel delivery sector.

According to the agreement signed the previous day, Coupang Logistics Service, a delivery-specialized subsidiary of Coupang, will lease a building in Daehung-dong, Suseong District, and invest KRW 61.8 billion to establish an AI-based advanced smart logistics center with a total floor area of 75,000 square meters by November.

The planned Suseong Smart Logistics Center will use AI-based demand forecasting to pre-store and manage frequently ordered products closer to customers, thereby optimizing delivery operations.

Through this investment, Coupang Logistics Service expects to expand the range of “Rocket Delivery” products and service areas, shorten delivery times, and reduce distribution costs for local small businesses.

The company also anticipates that extending its services to nearby North Gyeongsang Province, where Rocket Delivery was previously unavailable, will help increase sales for local producers and SMEs.

Daegu-si projects that the establishment of the advanced smart logistics center will create around 800 new jobs.
