According to Yonhap News,
On November 10, Daegu-si signed an investment agreement with Valeo Mobility Korea, a global automotive parts company, to expand its factory and establish a mass production system for advanced autonomous driving sensors.
Under this agreement, Valeo Mobility Korea plans to invest KRW 75.3 billion in its existing factory at the Daegu National Industrial Complex in Dalseong-gun by 2030, to advance the core technologies of autonomous driving sensors and expand production facilities.
Earlier, Valeo Mobility Korea invested KRW 74.5 billion to establish a production facility for advanced autonomous vehicle parts within the Daegu National Industrial Complex from 2022 to 2024.
Based on this additional investment, Valeo Mobility Korea plans to establish a mass production system for key autonomous driving components, such as ultrasonic sensors, and aims to achieve over KRW 600 billion in revenue by 2030.
Daegu-si expects this agreement will help accelerate the development of a local autonomous driving parts cluster and the creation of a future mobility industry ecosystem.
Kim Min-kyu, CEO of Valeo Mobility Korea, stated, "With this additional investment, we will solidify our position as a global leader in autonomous driving research, development, and production in Daegu. We also aim to contribute to job creation, growth with local partners, and talent development in the region."
Kim Jeong-gi, Acting Mayor of Daegu, emphasized, "We will continue to provide administrative and financial support to help Valeo Group further expand and advance the future mobility industry ecosystem based in Daegu."
