The Daegu Customs Office announced on the 15th that Daegu registered a double-digit growth rate driven primarily by chemical products, while Gyeongbuk recorded a similar trend thanks to robust performances in electrics & electronics and steel products.
According to the region's import and export status for last month, Daegu's export volume expanded 12.9 percent year-on-year to record USD 840 million.
While chemical products (68.9 percent) spearheaded the export growth, exports of electrical and electronic products (5.6 percent) also increased. Conversely, exports declined in machinery and precision instruments (-12.8 percent), automobiles and automotive parts (-0.7 percent), and steel products (-4.8 percent). By destination, exports increased to most major markets, including China (5.4 percent), the United States (10.2 percent), Southeast Asia (20.1 percent), the European Union (13.0 percent), and Latin America (12.1 percent).
Gyeongbuk's export volume last month recorded USD 3.54 billion, representing an 18.4 percent increase year-on-year.
Exports of electrical and electronic products (13.5 percent), steel products (28.5 percent), and machinery and precision instruments (33.2 percent) expanded, whereas chemical products (-0.5 percent) and automobiles and automotive parts (-9.7 percent) decreased. By nation, exports to China (26.6 percent), the United States (22.6 percent), Southeast Asia (37.7 percent), and Japan (52.2 percent) increased, while exports to the European Union (-5.4 percent) declined.
