Additionally, the government plans to grant unprecedented regulatory exceptions to investing companies and quickly pursue a special law for mega special zones in cooperation with the National Assembly to back this up.

Taking this selection as an opportunity, Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province will form the "Daegu-Gyeongbuk Growth Engine Fostering Plan Joint Task Force" and launch full-scale efforts to formulate an effective development plan.

The joint task force, which will operate subcommittees for each of the four growth engine strategic industries, will include regional innovation institutions and anchor companies planning actual investments.

The fostering plan will include attracting anchor company investments, visions and strategies for growth engine development, and detailed implementation tasks to promote investment and foster growth engines. It will also link with the government's 7-type package support.

Based on this, the city and province will intensively foster specialized semiconductor advanced materials and components industries focusing on core semiconductor materials, processes, and equipment parts, as well as industries manufacturing minerals and applied products through secondary battery core material production, next-generation new material development, and waste battery recycling and reuse.

At the same time, they will nurture component and module manufacturing and application industries for electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and future air mobility, as well as core component industries for AI-based humanoid and intelligent robot production, along with robot manufacturing, driving, and operation.

Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "The four growth engines for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region are the fruits of super-regional cooperation that Gyeongbuk and Daegu have prepared together. We will cooperate closely with Daegu City to prepare a thorough development plan so that anchor company investments and government funding lead to tangible results on the ground."
