According to Yonhap News,

(Daegu=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Se-jin = TSE Co., Ltd., a semiconductor inspection equipment enterprise, will invest KRW 30 billion (USD 22.5 million) in Daegu by 2030 to establish a 'Semiconductor Inspection Design Center' and hire 150 research and development (R&D) personnel.

Daegu Metropolitan City, TSE, Kyungpook National University, and Keimyung University signed an investment agreement and a talent development memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 3rd to establish the 'Semiconductor Inspection Design Center.'

The signing ceremony held at the Sangyeok building of Daegu City Hall was attended by Kyung-ho Choo, Mayor of Daegu; Sang-jun Kwon, Chairman of TSE; Young-woo Huh, President of Kyungpook National University; and Il-hi Shin, President of Keimyung University.

A total of KRW 30 billion (USD 22.5 million) will be invested in the Semiconductor Inspection Design Center by 2030 for equipment procurement and other facilities. Additionally, 150 R&D personnel will be recruited.

According to the city, TSE designated Daegu as its R&D hub to secure circuit design talent following a recent surge in global orders. It will establish the Semiconductor Inspection Design Center by expanding the Daegu Circuit Design Center, which opened in December last year.

Daegu City will provide comprehensive support, including securing operational space, assisting with recruitment, and facilitating industry-academia cooperation with local universities. Kyungpook National University and Keimyung University agreed to develop customized talent training programs and recruitment-linked curricula.

With this agreement, the city plans to leverage its strength as the largest talent development hub outside the Capital region to accelerate the attraction of semiconductor companies.

Mayor Kyung-ho Choo stated, "We will spare no administrative and policy support so that young people who study semiconductors in Daegu can settle in their hometown and grow into world-class design experts."

Meanwhile, Daegu City noted that TSE Co., Ltd. is a leading Korean enterprise in semiconductor inspection equipment design and manufacturing, supplying key inspection components to global players such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Micron, AMD, Intel, and TSMC.

The city added that TSE Co., Ltd. is the only company worldwide that simultaneously develops and manufactures probe cards, test sockets, and interface boards—the three core hardware components of semiconductor testing.
