According to Yonhap News,
Daegu mayor Kim Bum-il said on September 6 that Daegu will seek ways to develop Asia's athletic sports by forming an athletics council with Japan and China, and will make utmost efforts to make the city a hub of world athletics.
He said that the World Athletics Championships put Daegu on the map, and it is a priceless asset. He emphasized that Daegu should use the opportunity to attract investment, boost tourism industry, upgrade Daegu's image.
He was confident about attracting investment, saying that Daegu is now in a great advantage in inducing foreign investment as the World Championships let global people know about the city.
