According to Yonhap News

A string of study tour groups from schools in East Asian countries are visiting Daegu.

The Daegu Metropolitan Government said on December 2 that a study tour group from Nagasaki High School in Japan will visit Daegu Tourism High School, and that they will hold a cultural and study exchange with the students.

More than 250 students from Japan will stay at Hotel Inter-Burgo, and will visit Daegu Tourism High School. They will engage in diverse activities, including competing in specialty skills and engaging in friendship exchanges.

More than 90 students from two study groups from Singapore will visit Daegu on December 12, and they will go on study tours to educational tourism sites, including the Citizens Safety Theme Park and Guam Village. They will also engage in friendship exchanges with local students.

During the vacation periods of January and February, and July and August this year, 2,250 youth from China took tours that were centered on educational experience in Daegu. In total, more than 2,800 students from study tour groups from East Asian countries have visited the city so far this year.

Many schools in East Asian countries chose to take study tours to Daegu, because Daegu Metropolitan City has stepped up its promotion and marketing campaigns in conjunction with the occasion of, “2011 Visit Daegu Year.” The city arranged exchanges with local schools, as part of its far-reaching efforts to attract study tour groups from overseas.

Kim Yeon-su, Vice Major for Administration in the city government, said, “In the future, we will seek to attract more study tour groups from schools in foreign countries by developing various tourism products that make the most of Daegu’s strengths and merits.”
