According to Yonhap News,
Daegu announced that its publishing and printing industry is designated the Regional Innovation System by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
The designation will lay groundwork for developing its publishing and printing industry into the high value-added cultural industry.
A total of 2.4 billion won including the national budget worth 1.8 billion won will be injected into enhancing the competitiveness of the publishing and printing industry by 2014.
The money will be spent to establish networks with related industries, build an innovative framework for IT and CT, cultivate professionals and provide companies with consulting services.
Daegu-North Gyeongsang Printing Cooperative Federation, Daegu Digital Industry Promotion Agency (DIP), Yeungjin College and Daegu Technopark (TP) will participate in the project.
Daegu-North Gyeongsang Printing Cooperative Federation will establish a comprehensive network that connects all the works from creation to publishing, designing and printing.
The federation also plans to utilize the accumulation of related companies in Daegu Publishing and Printing Information Valley being constructed.
The DIP will be tasked with laying the foundation for IT and CT, building Image Store to support activities of publishing and printing companies and facilitating the development of contents by organizing contests for creative stories.
Yeungjin College will focus on intensively cultivating future-oriented professionals to restructure the regional publishing and printing industry.
TP will provide consulting services to support regional companies to advance into a new market.
"We will maximize the effects the designation could bring in collaboration with Daegu Publishing and Printing Information Valley under construction," said Kim Yeon-su, Head of Daegu Administrative Branch.
