According to Yonhap News,

Daegu City and North Chungcheong Province signed an agreement to join efforts to successfully conduct the on-going comprehensive cutting-edge medical complex project.

The signing ceremony brought together Minister of Health and Welfare In Chae-min, Daegu Mayor Kim Beom-il, North Chungcheong Governor Lee Si-jong and others.

Both sides agreed to work together to establish the complexes on an each region, resolve current issues, search for additional cooperative projects and organize joint bio-forums on an annual basis for mutual development.

Kim Dae-gyeong, a specialized advisor of National Science and Technology Council, will deliver a keynote speech under the topic of "Future Direction of National Healthcare Industry" during the forum.

The government designated Sinseo in Daegu and Osong in North Chungcheong as comprehensive cutting-edge medical complexes in August, 2009, in an attempt to take the domestic healthcare industry to the next level.

Daegu-Gyeongbuk complex will specialize in synthetic medicine and IT-based medical devices, while Osong complex will focus on bio-medicine and BT-based medical devices.

"I hope both regions would cooperate each other for mutual development. The government is well advised to provide aggressive supports for both complexes to achieve its goal to become the top seven country in the Health Technology sector," said Daegu Mayor Kim.
