According to Yonhap News,

Daegu City will ink a memorandum of understanding with Meritz Fire and Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. on locating the company's contact center in KT Smart Tower in Dongin-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu.

Meritz Fire and Marine Insurance, the first insurance company in Korea founded in 1922, has more than 7 trillion won-assets as of 2010.

The insurance company decided to open a 200-seat contact center this month and placed employment advertisement for direct auto insurance telemarketer position.

The city's long-time efforts to foster the contact industry have borne fruit with attracting a total of 1,600 seat-contact centers including Meritz Fire and Marine Insurance.

"Our efforts to accelerate the contact industry will not only add more jobs for the vulnerable members of the society but also enhance added value of companies and boost income of local people," said Daegu Mayor Kim Beom-il.
