Daegu Promotes 2013 World Energy Congress

Daegu city is putting its upmost efforts for the successful 22nd World Energy Congress this year.

The city announced yesterday that city executives were dedicated to each city or province from 16 cities and provinces to promote the event under the assumption that participation from local governments are necessary as the event will enhance the prestige of Korea.

Daegu will promote that the event, which a large number of energy companies participate in, will serve as a good opportunity to build a global network and attract global companies.

It will also stress that global industry and technology trends in the field of energy and environment, which will be discussed at the congress, will help to develop green growth strategies.

City executives will visit cities and provinces for successful promotional activities.

A head of the High-Tech Medical Industry Bureau of Daegu plans to visit North Chungcheong Province which jointly promotes advanced medical city with Daegu.

About 201 participants of 79 CEO of global companies, 33 ministers from around the world and 11 representatives of international organizations will attend as speakers.

Including Siemens from Germany and France’s Alstom, 83 global energy companies will participate in as sponsors and exhibitors.

The 22nd World Energy Congress will be held from October 13 under the theme of Securing Tomorrow’s Energy Today.

Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs Kim Yeon-chang noted that Daegu expects to see active participation from cities and provinces as the congress will help to understand energy industry and business trends.
