An organizing committee for the International Daegu Opera Festival will sign an exchange agreement with 19th International Competition for Opera Singers ‘Ferruccio Tagliavini’ today.

According to the agreement, contest winners will have a chance to appear on the stage of the International Daegu Opera Festival.

International Competition for Opera Singers ‘Ferruccio Tagliavini’ is one of the recognized contests that is held annually in Deutschlandsberg, Austria, celebrating its 19th anniversary this year.

Musicians from all around the world compete in the competition, and Dame Joan Alston Sutherland, Elena Obraztsova and other world-class musicians participated as judges.

Since Gang Soon-won won the first place in 1997, 27 Korean vocalists won awards at the competition so far.

The organizing committee of the festival also plans to sign an exchange agreement with the Teatro Verdi Salerno, which has 150 years of history, next month.

The agreement will enable the two theatres to cooperate on facilitation of group exchanges and invitation performances.
