Daegu City will hold the Water Expo Korea 2013 next week.

The city aims to lay the foundation to transform into a water industry hub and hold the successful 7th World Water Forum in 2015.

The expo will consist of three categories of an exposition, a water conference and water events.

About 180 booths will be held by 73 companies to exhibit water sciences and advanced technology.

The conference will also feature a symposium and conferences on environmental sciences.

Consultation sessions, tour programs and an experience zone will also be provided at the expo.

The city plans to make the Water Expo Korea an international water event by facilitating domestic and global networks after holding the World Water Forum.

The Water Industry Cluster of Daegu National Industrial Cluster will accommodate a water industry promotion agency, a comprehensive complex to develop water treatment technology and about 200 water companies.

Daegu aims to make the cluster a water industry hub by building a one-stop system for research and development, product and technology commercialization and export support.

Daegu mayor Kim Bum-il noted that he asks for active participation from companies and citizens as the expo will play an important role to make the city a mecca of the water industry.
