According to Yonhap News,

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu City announced March 19 that the number of the employed reached 1.21 million in February, a 1.9 percent increase year-on-year.

The employment rate (the number of the employed among the working age (15~64)) is 64.9 percent, a 1.4 percent increase year-on-year.

The unemployment rate is 4.2 percent, a 0.9 percent decrease year-on-year.

The number of regular workers also increased by 10.7 percent than that of the previous year.

The increase in the employment is due to the city’s large-scale projects including the establishment of national industrial complexes and because many companies and research institutions have moved to the technopolis and high-tech medical complex.

"The employment market of Daegu is changing due to support for job creation. We will strive to increase the employment rate by improving the employment environment," said a city official.
