(GWANGJU= Newsis News) Gwangju City announced that it will hold a conference to vitalize the tourism industry of Honam area, the southwestern part of Korea including Gwangju, South Jeolla and North Jeolla Provinces, at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju on Octber 19, 2016.

The conference, jointly hosted by three provincial governments in Southwestern South Korea and organized by the Gwangju Convention & Visitors Bureau, will invite around 300 business leaders, academic experts, and public officials.

Under the slogan of 'Honam Tour with the Asia Culture Center,' industrial experts and representatives from governmental tourism agencies will present on research findings and ways to promote tourism in Honam region.

Strategic measures to develop the tourism industry in Honam area will be discussed among officials of tourism divisions in local governments and academic experts. After the conference, participants will take a short tour to look around Gwangju City.

The conference, held by three provincial governments in turns, was organized after a consultative body for promotion of tourism in Honam was established last year. Last year's event took place in Mokpo, South Jeolla.
