On June 5, Gwangju City stated it will hold a public contest for new technology development projects related to the eco-friendly automotive parts cluster development project.

The same day, the city held a new technology development project information session at the Gwangju Green Car Promotional Center with 100 participants from regional automotive parts companies, related organizations and universities.

This year, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) will oversee 19 new technology development projects that cover electric vehicles (5), special purpose cars (2), integrated systems (6), lightweight (6) and more.

The projects will receive KRW 24.8 billion in federal funding over the next 3 years. Regional automotive parts companies will receive extra funding to cover 40% of fees.

Companies can sign up for the support projects from now until June 29. The RFP and application form can be found on the KIAT website and applications can be sent online or via mail.

However, consortiums must include at least one company with business sites in Gwangju City to be eligible to apply.
