According to Yonhap News,

Roughly 200 smart factories will be newly established near the city of Gwangju. The national budget for the project is estimated to be KRW 22 billion, a 65 percent jump from this year’s KRW 13.34 billion. The city is planning to add a hundred more factories at the end of 2020 to 94 facilities, currently operated.

While conducting preliminary fact-finding research for the purpose of ascertaining business conditions in manufacturing, ministry of SMEs and Startups go through a series of steps to push for the project: setting up an industry-specific support plan, implementing a standardized manual applied to smart factories, forming networks for HR training and introducing an after sales service center (or warranty service center) inside the factories etc.

“The community where we belong to is now facing a paradigm shift where smart factories are increasingly becoming a new norm. I’ve already witnessed signs of improvement in productivity and performance.” said SMEs minister.
