According to Yonhap News,

The city of Gwangju has been making a construction project forming a community energy hub well underway. The city on Mar 28 said the project building an industry cluster near Nam-gu appears to come to an end in April.

Another construction project to establish an energy valley within Apchon-dong is in progress, hitting 50% completion. The opening is officially scheduled to be around the end of this year. Almost 37 energy companies and institutions including Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), ls Electric, INCELL, and 32 related bodies such as Hyosung Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd are waiting to move into the industry cluster and energy valley.

The cluster now shows over 74 percent of occupancy rate, with new tenants coming in – KERI Gwangju office, Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) Gwangju center and INCELL.

The formation of these business clusters is fueling anticipation over the possibility of forming an energy ecosystem within the communities, a city official said.
