KEPCO will introduce new technologies for future energy that will accelerate the realization of carbon neutrality.

Carbon neutrality refers to reducing real emissions to zero by carrying out environmental protection activities such as planting trees to absorb greenhouse gas equivalent to the amount of carbon dioxide emitted, or by investing in renewable energy fields such as wind power and solar power generation.

KEPCO announced on October 28 that it will hold the 'Bitgaram International Electric Power Technology Expo 2021' (BIXPO 2021), which will showcase future technologies in the energy sector, for three days from November 10 to 12 at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju.

This event will be held both online and offline in consideration of the COVID-19 situation.

Bixpo 2021, which marks its 7th anniversary this year, will be a comprehensive international energy expo that presents future new technologies and direction of industries in the energy field such as renewable energy and efficiency under the theme of 'Carbon Neutrality', a major global issue in the energy sector.

In consideration of such purpose of the event, a former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and World Energy Council (WEC) Secretary-General Angela Wilkinson will give a keynote lecture under the theme of carbon neutrality.

KEPCO President Jeong Seung-il is also scheduled to declare the '2050 carbon-neutral vision' at the opening ceremony and elaborate on its meaning.

By holding BIXPO, KEPCO plans to provide an opportunity for the industry to share the latest energy technologies and to expand exchanges and collaborations between leading domestic and foreign companies.

During the event period, new technology exhibitions, international conferences, export consultations, international invention patent fairs, and job fairs will also be held.

At the Energy Leaders Summit (ELS), the representative conference of BIXPO, experts from international organizations in the energy sector, such as the World Energy Council (WEC), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the International Energy Agency (IEA)will share the global trend of 2050 carbon neutrality.

By taking BIXCO as an opportunity, KEPCO will also take the lead in revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs.

In the open hall on the 1st floor of the Gwangju DJ Center, 60 counseling booths will be operated for two days from November 10 to 11, and on-site interviews and recruitment consultations are scheduled for students and job seekers through a job fair in which 30 companies residing in Energy Valley participated.

During the same period, a large-scale online export conference will be held in which 69 domestic SMEs and 100 overseas buyers are to participate at the Gwangju DJ Center's New Technology Exhibition Hall.

By signing a MOU with KOTRA, KEPCO plans to actively provide SMEs with opportunities to discover buyers and have business meetings, which had been rare due to COVID-19.
