According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju-si held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Energy Industry Convergence Complex Support Center at the Urban High-tech National Industrial Complex in Nam-gu March 31.

The city plans to invest KRW 22.7 billion to complete the construction of center by the end of next year. The center will have a total floor area of 5,200 square meters, one basement level and four above ground floors.

The support center will work towards a virtuous cycle from R&D, demonstration, to commercialization through step-by-step support for energy companies.

It was the first public building in Gwangju that obtained the preliminary certification as a 'zero-energy building' capable of energy self-sufficiency.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Energy Industry Convergence Complex was the first to be designated in the country by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) in November 2019 in accordance with the Energy Convergence Complex Act that went into effect in June 2018.

It covers a total of 18.92㎢ including the Urban High-tech Industrial Complex, the Energy Valley General Industrial Complex, and the Pyeongdong Industrial Commplex.
