Gwangju-si held an online investment promotion event in the medical industry

Gwangju Metropolitan city held an online investment promotion consultation for the medical industry sector jointly with the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, a Chinese technology trading institute, at Kimdaejung Convention Center on April 7.

Attended by around 30 organizations and institutions including Chinese government agencies and investors, promising companies in the local medical industry, and organizations related with the medical industry development, there were introductions to investment environment by Gwangju-si and Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, a Shanghai international technology exchange market project description by the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, investment promotion IR by promising companies in Gwangju's medical industry, and real-time investment consultations.

The National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, represented by General Manager Cheon Chao of Shanghai international technology exchange market, elaborated on technology exchange-related projects and China's investment attraction under the theme of 'Korea-China cooperation on technology commercialization led by Shanghai and Gwangju'.

For investment promotion IR, four dental and orthopedics medical device product development and manufacturing companies including KJ Meditech, Hudens Bio, YES Biotech, and Intermedi participated.

KJ Meditech is a global company with advanced technology through localization of dental implants and development of high-quality dental instruments. It emphasized its strength of thorough quality management system proven by acquisition of ISO9001, CE certification and registration with the US FDA.

Hudens Bio is specialized in dental medical devices, producing biomaterials such as polymeric resin, burs and alloy, ceramic, and synthetic bone graft substitutes. It introduced its goal of becoming a global company by entering overseas markets with its main products.

YES Biotech manufactures all kinds of implants produced at home and abroad, appealed to investors with its continuous push for new technology development and quality innovation through expansion of investment in R&D.

Intermedi is a company that researches, develops, and manufactures medical and orthopedic implant surgical instruments and dental instruments. It appealed to investors by emphasizing that its implant dental instruments are customized to the affected area, and surgical instruments are customized to patients utilizing 3D printing, based on its accumulated know-how and clinical experiences.

Gwangju-si will support so that interested Chinese investors and companies have one-on-one matching, followed by separate consultations after this event.

The National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, a co-host of this event, is a Chinese national-level tech exchange institution established in April 2015 at Science and Technology Commission in Shanghai, China, intensively fostering and supporting every step of technology transfer. In this event, the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center was in charge of discovering China's institutions and investors using networks in China, while Gwangju was in charge of discovering promising local companies seeking China's investment and joint technology development.

In addition, officials from the Korea Representative Office, Department of Commerce, Liaoning Province of China, People's Government of Xiamen, People's Government of Yancheng, and Seoul Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) participated and exchanged opinions regarding cooperative measures on investment promotion in the post-COVID-19 era.

Park Jeong-hwan, head of the Jobs and Economy at Gwangju Metropolitan Government, said, "we initiated the beginning of investment promotion activities of this year by holding this consultation jointly with the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, despite the recent Omicron variant," adding "we will continue making efforts, including preparation for face-to-face exchanges in the second half of this year to make real foreign investment happen."
