The Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority embarks on the first face-to-face overseas investment promotion since its launch.

The authority stated on Oct. 4 that it would carry on activities in earnest to attract new investments globally despite difficult conditions such as the global economic downturn and foreign investment crunch.

Starting with promotion activities targeting enterprises located in four regions in Japan from Sep. 3 to Sep. 6, the authority also pushes forward investment promotion of roughly 30 target companies related to future mobility across Europe and North America.

The promotion is run in connection with the Trade Ministry's project regarding the foreigner investment attraction project. Also, the authority will find potential investors and induce their investments through one-on-one promotion activities with the local headquarters.

And such global investment promotion will help Gwangju to leap toward the center of the eco-friendly car industry, and expand its role as an institute in charge of attracting investments.

"Nevertheless, a great deal of hindrance to promotion due to the pandemic, we will actively implement overseas activities under improved conditions," Kim Jin-cheol, the head of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, said.
